Eight. Teddy Bear.
Eight. Teddy Bear.
Every girl has a Teddy Bear, Ted, Mr. T.
Mummy put Mr. T gently next to her when she first opened her tiny little eyes to the world.
Mr. T has been her companion since then. They peekaboo-ed, played hide and seek, shared little secrets... Oh look! Little girl got Mr. T a mistress to hang out with!... They travelled as she went abroad from home. Mr. T has been little girl's best companion, witnessing and experiencing every second of her emotional roller coaster.
Mr. T is a nice guy.
Mr. T never says "No".
Mr. T is a good listener and little girl's confidant.
Mr. T is little girl's blanket when the sky is falling down.
Mr. T hum lullabies softly by her ears.
Mr. T brushes little girl's hair when she's sleeping.
But there is something little girl doesn't know.
Mr. T is a collector.
Mr. T likes other girls too.
Mr. T is a womaniser.
Mr. T doesn't wanna be owned by one single owner.
Mr. T has been serving numerous girls before little girl.
Mr. T enjoyed it a lot when little girl's friends were playing with him and secretly wish they would take him away one day.
Mr. T would never says "No" to other girls too.
Mr. T is indecisive.
Mr. T is disgusting.
Every girl has a teddy bear like she has a Mr. T.

"Teddy Bear" is the enduring symbol of child-like innocence, love and tenderness. According to one anonymous author it is 'a socially acceptable security blanket that transcends gender, age and nationality'. Teddy bear comes in all forms, mine happens to be a fluffy innocent giraffe. It means more than you thought.
Never abandon your teddy bear, take it out to meet friends and have fun with it. It deserves to some some quality time outside your bed. For it had been staying besides you for better or for worse.
P.S When you put 2 teddy bears together- some serious flirting will happen:

the extinction of 35mm film and films deserving our time ?
The Film industry (Hollywood) has released films after films. Some are destined to be high grossing (Formulaic?), while others targeted at the Academy Awards. This year, surprisingly, Samsung, Ellen Degeneres and possibly the pizza boy turned out to be the winners of the award show.
As movie became more and more digital (non 35mm film), and our society becoming more dependent on technology, Ellen invited ten plus A listers to participate in a "selfie"(can anyone actually memorise who is in the "selfie"?) with the soon to launch Samsung Galaxy S5 (although she was seen switching back to her iPhone in back stage). When star of Hunger Game complained of hunger for last year's show, Ellen cleverly solved the issue by ordering pizzas and gladly bringing the fortunate pizza boy to the stage. Did we all love the relaxed tone Ellen supplied for this years' show ?
I have decided to go off track a little bit, but 2013 has been a very good year for films and I haven't watched and enjoyed as many films in such short time span. Blue Jasmine, Gravity, Wolf of Wall Street, Her, Captain Phillips, Philomena and Dallas Buyers Club, are all incredible and enjoyable movies on their own.

Seven. Film.
Seven. Film.
I came out of a list of film as below:
cling film
filming tape
movie
video
camera
video recorder
poster
colour
black &white
foil
lace
layering
So I started to draw lace patterns and trying to layer them up.

As I work on more drawings, I start to find a connection in the lines between lace and the smash on gadgets.

| Film (Indian ink on tracing paper) |
What I then find interesting is that the smash lines on gadgets are beautiful and natural lines created by us accidentally -and each of them consist of an interesting (aka stupid) story which only happens in this generation, not 5 years ago, not 10 years ago but NOW.

I personally have a front &back smashed iPhone with a screen smashed iPad mini which I have decided to continue to use them regardless the fact (that I would wholeheartedly ignore) that pieces of glasses might scratch my ear or face. I used to have a blackberry Q10 (which I lost some time ago) and I was "legit" to ignore the scar face of my iPhone since I have a proper phone to use to make calls anyways. Since the Q10 has been long gone, I still haven't fix my screen - I still use it everyday. I'm not sure if it is my laziness to pop to the store or that it doesn't worth the money to just to fix the screen or simply that I could not have my phone not by my pocket for a single second. It made me realise the strong attachment I have with my phone. I used not to understand when I saw people on the street using a smashed screen phone, neither have the intention to get a new one nor just to fix it (in my scenario now).
The gadgets or phone discussing above were supposed to be just a helpful tool to better our lives. It seems like they have now became a machine on the border of becoming a mind, and were changing our behaviour. We are now shaped by our tools. The human mind is just a machine, much similar to a computerised gadget. If mind is a program, free will will eventually become an illusion - how scary is that darling.

Six. Postcard project - Jobless chick.
Six. Postcard project - Jobless chick.
Some old work of mine that has a connection with my postcard.
The initial title of the sixth theme was target.
For me, targets are like rules; they are to break and to be failed to meet.
Failing to meet targets and breaking rules are like making wrong decisions and create good stories.
I have been a 50/50 rebel in my life.
I would respect rules and breaking them at the same time. I am my nice monkey suit putting a smile on and highlight the back of my hair green. I would devote in my stable job 200% and fly across the Atlantic to London for more potential opportunities the next day.
I was still with Harrods when I was working on the title of target.
My target for that month was 90k and I made an illustration plan of how I met my target. I have even over-archieved it. (yay!)

However my partners weren't able to meet their target of coming up with something for this title due to a lot of reasons. Anyways, here you go this is my plan:

I quit my job after meeting my targetss, and designing a postcard project with my friend Nicole.
The idea is similar, discussing a topic and deliver it with postcard. We hope it could be delivered worldwide!

Being jobless and as a chick is what relate us together, disregarding the geographical connection.
Here is the jobless message I sent to Nicole from London:

Although still jobless, I'm still very looking forward to the future. It is like exploring and touching the unmapped world, and I enjoy doing this.
Working as 2 unpaid interns at a time allows me to meet more interesting people and explore the never-been-seen London, learning and brushing up my skills too. Hmmm I think I have a new idea on what to reply Nicole ;)))

Five. Cherry Blossom.
Five. Cherry Blossom.
It's spring.
Sun shines balmly, birds starts to chirp, cherry blossom flourished.
The melody of "Bom bom bom" (Cherry blossom in Korean) by Roy Kim waltzing in my flat on a Sunday morning brings back my memory with my very first boyfriend.
It was an unforgettable movie-like love experience which every girl would have dreamt of.
The dance at the ball. The late night chit-chats. The guitar he played. The constant run-intos pulled by the strings of destiny. The first kiss by the shore. The handmade bracelets. The songs he performed for me. The night journeys home. The anniversary phone calls surprise. The birthday candles surprise. And of course, the first break-up...
Friends around me thought we would last long, and so did I. The 2 years of fantastical and dreamy relationship with him was so magical that our unexpected not happily ever after was quite a shock to me. How could one turn his back against you when he vowed his eternal love to you just 12 hours ago. It was then I started to lose faith in relationships. Words are just words pouring out from your mouth without trepassing your brain nor heart. "What are words worth?"
It was a blessing that my next boyfriend was patience enough to use more than a year to help me overcame this very trust issue of mine. I started to develop a concrete relationship with this high level of bank of trust with him for another 4 and a half years.
Every since then, my journey of love relationships have been like a roller coaster. I am starting to get immune with heart breakings and still carry a positive attitude towards relationships:
“落紅不是無情物,化作春泥更護花”
真的身份不過送運
這趟旅行若算開心
亦是無負這一生
水點 蒸發變做白雲
花瓣 飄落下游生根
淡淡交會過 各不留下印
但是經歷過 最溫柔共震"
As long as we had a good time, I will forever lock the wonderful memories we shared in the safe of my heart.
"祝我幸福快樂. 我愛過每一個 請保佑我:3"

My Cherry Blossom playlist
1. Bom Bom Bom (Spring) by Roy Kim
2. 落花流水 by Eason Chan
3. 給我愛過的男孩們 by Cass Pang
A side fact: I actually moved on from my first break-up within one night. No joke. The musical by HOCC suggested to me that you may now hold onto the memory and habit with one tight, but a week later, you may forget one's smell; a month later, you may forget one's number; a year later, you may just barely remember one's horoscope or even face. It has inspired me at that time that: I had a wonderful 2 years with this prince charming, why shall I waste any second of my life mourning the fact that he does not love me now when there are so many 2 years ahead of me? The possibility of sharing and embracing many more amazing 2 years with other boys/gents kept my hopes high and march on.

Four. Lost.
Four. Lost.
I am twenty-four, going on twenty-five.
I quitted my job in Hong Kong, arriving London.
I was a set designer, now a job hunter.
I was on my own in this journey, met a few companions but now I'm back on the road again.
What do I really want?
What am I doing here?
Scottish Molly Sweeny had limited eyesight throughout her entire life until she met Mr. Rice whom allowed her to regain her eyesight but she has eventually lost it due to mental reasons. A typical scenario of lost and found and lost. Is it truly important that you have to "found" something you have lost? Wouldn't it at times better if you just allow it to be lost forever? No worries of it to be found nor to handle the found situation.
Epic West to East Coast bike-ride 21-year-old Leo has just completed a route he aimed to finish - "To finish what he started", thou marred by tragedy on route. Growing up with growing responsibilities whilst growing old with his 91-year-old communist grandma in New York defined his new set of direction in life.
and I hope I have found what I want.
If you have lost track of what I said, don't worry, just follow the yellow brick road.
My playlist:
1) The Pretty Reckless - Nothing Left to Lose
2) Calvin Harris - I Need Your Love (feat. Ellie Goulding)
3) Botvik - Epilepsy
4) Les Miserables - On My Own

GOLD DIGGER
First of all, I chose this particular topic as this month's basis because as soon as I left my student life and enter this cruel, harsh world of real life, I accidentally find myself surrounded by a bunch of 'gold diggers'. And they have given me a mixed feeling.
Gold digger. Definition (urban-dictionary) = Someone who sticks on to another person(s) only for his/her money.
In MY dictionary = socially-useless, low self-esteem, sexual skanks who would fuck, suck any he, she or it for some cha-ching, cha-ching, some bling-bling, some dollar-dollar.
So what makes someone a gold digger? I believe, and this is 100% based on my instincts & observation and absolutely 100% 0 statistics or bar-chart-diagrams supported, that these bitches do these mainly because of their insecurity and lack of confidence in themselves and well, just pure laziness.
Theory 1) Not that they do not believe they have confidence or the power, it's just that they do not believe they can make enough money to support the lifestyle.
Theory 2) Just lazy. Pure. Lazy. Why work your ass off, kill your brain and earn ank's fees when you can gain shit loads from doing jack shit? I mean literally, jack someone's shit off!
Whichever the theories, gold diggers are surprisingly shallow-minded when it comes to money but surprisingly deep when it comes to their wallets (& throats... if you get what I mean *wink wink*)
I have huge admiration to those who become gold diggers and I pity them too. It takes a lot of luck, a lot of research, a lot of patience, and frankly, a lot of sex too to become a gold digger. If only, I can do more research, more patience, more self-pity, I guess I would jump right off to the next rich guy or lady and fuck the stinking $$$$$$ out of them!
All bullshit aside, if you have any self-respect, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-loving, I do hope you will not go on being a gold digger. Not that one is not allowed to love a rich man and be automatically categorized as gold digger, just do not love a someone because he/she is rich. Love them despite they are rich.

Hi-ho (Snow White) lyrics
We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in a mine the whole day through
To dig dig dig dig dig dig dig is what we like to do
It ain't no trick
To get rich quick
If you dig dig dig
With a shovel or a pick
In a mine (In a mine)
In a mine (In a mine)
Where a million diamonds
Shine
We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig from early morn to night
We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig up everything in sight
We dig up diamonds
By the score
A thousand rubies
Sometimes more
We don't know what we dig them for
We dig dig digga dig dig

Three. Goldigger.
Money. Materialistic. Brandism. Plastic. Long Legs. Big Boobies. Trade. NO WORK or more work on visual maintenance?
Everything has a price tag, their target do and so do themselves. &who said a goldigger must be a woman? Guys whom depend on their partners/parents and not being aggressive in improving themselves are goldiggers, digging the fruits their families and friends achieved.

Two. Mistakes.
Two. CKL.
聖人都有錯.
I have been encountered with various of recent incidents related to mistakes ever since we have came up with the topic of this unit.
Back in the days in Headington, the teachers encouraged us digesting words and raise questions. I still remember my first Geography lesson on glacier, a classmate asked a question out of nowhere: "Mrs Geoffrey, why is snow white?" I rolled my eyes, urgh what a meaningless question. Teachers that I have been came across would have shunned me if I ask things like this. Surprisingly, Mrs Geoffrey answered it throughly in a way that would interest me dig deeper into the core of glacier formation and things other than textbooks. That's how they roll in England.
With my 6 years of education in UK, I have learnt to digest, to ask, to question and to challenge.
Yes and to ask stupid questions.
When I had my first tutorial in uni, I was frustrated and admitted to my tutor how I had a few technical mistakes in my project. "Karen, you know what, having mistakes is good. We are actually expecting mistakes and we love mistakes. It is the process of learning, without making mistakes, you will never learn and we would love to see how you encounter and solve your problems. You won't be perfect in your first year, neither your second nor final year. Cos you're not perfect and never will you be perfect. Mistakes are beautiful cos it marks your learning process. If you're so good that you don't make any mistakes, you don't even need to go to uni, you can simply be my tutor teaching me. And in fact, I'm still learning from you youngsters too." I have to admit I'm the kind who makes numerous careless mistakes and course I looooove this idea of failing and climbing from where I tripped hahahaaa
So it surprised me that it would be offending people when I spot out their mistakes and ask questions upon that.
Wells, that's how their roll in HK. Superiors are always right.
"The biggest mistake you can make is to be afraid of making one."
It is my mistake that I couldn't come up with any artwork in this unit. Theres just too many ideas in my head that I don't know where to start with. I like the idea of using tipix, erasable ink pen and cassette tape film as medium. But yea, how shall I start &I didn't have any time to date experimenting... hahaaa...
Mistakes to me are positive motivation for improvement and it is another way of doing things.
One would try and amend, erase or pray to the capital him that time could be reversed, wanting to start again.
But "What is done cannot be undone." - Macbeth, William Shakespeare. At least we could try and learn from our mistakes and be a better person:)))

Depression.
One.Felix.
For me, Depression is a state of mind - a seclusion, a struggle within the mind, that goes completely opposite to the body. Depression is a dark place in the soul, like the attic of a house, that stores all kinds of secrets, fetishes, taboo thoughts, sufferings. Depression is a stream of negative energy that exists alongside all other energies within the body yet without it, all other energies seem all the less bright, less radiant. Just like sweat, depression is stinky and disgusting but is necessary to the body as it brings out all the unwanted substances out of the body. If not cleaned away clear enough, one will stink in his/her own sweat/depression. It is the dangerous flow of thoughts that lies within Depression that makes one so easily fall back into it over and over. So one must have strict self-conduct in order to let Depression do its duties and drain out all negative energies but not let it affect your life.
My depression soundtracks:
- A Single Man
- The Hours

One. Depression.
One.
We are people who are passionate about art but reality trapped us in the concrete office partition jungle.
To balance our life, we are collaborating an art project within cities and countries.
Every two weeks, we will set up a theme or title, and express it with our unique understanding based on our art background and interest.
We think it would be interesting how different people interpret a subject and further learn from each other.
Okayyy so let the music go on:)))
The subject of our first chapter is......... DEPRESSION...
One. CKL.
Depression to me is insecurity and lack of energy. When this negative energy accumulated, anger will evoke and unleash eventually.
When ones depressed, one may be destructive and try to tear things up or even hurt oneself. Depression will eventually be healed or amended but the scar would always be there.
